Michel MX-170C and Bendix King KX-125
I know this is a long shot, but I am thinking of replacing a troublesome MX-170C Nav/Com with a spare KX-125 in our C-182. Does anyone know if they are plug compatible ?
I have also posted the question in the Tech Log Forum.
TIA

In my veiw replacing junk with something that is very shortly going to be junk is financially unwise.
The Garmin GTN 650 will fit into the panel space you have avalable and will be good for the foreseeable future..........but a bit more money !

Despite being in the shop several times, and inspection/repair by an avionics engineer, it still fails to transmit intermittently.

I have a problem with the power supply on mine, it causes the unit to switch to 121.5 and then the display just sits and flashes. Going to replace it with a Garmin or something of that ilk I think.

The MX-170 was not the most reliable bit of kit on the market, I seem to remember two or three people who got them fitted and had no end of trouble with them.
No doubt there would have been one to two lucky people who had reliable units but this would have been very much against the Run of play.
Those who paid more and replaced their KX170 with a KX155 ( or KX165 ) would have found themselfs financially well ahead of those who went for the MX170 despite the much higher inital cost.
History is likely to repeat its self and fitting the much more expensive GTN650 will pay dividends in the future.
