I spoke to soon, some ratbag broke into my car and stole the Aircraft Spruce bag with the quick drain and $600 worth of other spares along with my passport.

I hope the little f$&ker enjoys his bag full of wheel bearings, brake pads, oil filters, crush washers and other assorted aircraft parts that I was going to put on the Maule.

Thankfully he didn't take the bag containing the airframe, prop and engine logs or strangley enough my ipad.

Bring back the flogging !!!

Thanks Pipes

Hi Piperboy84,

Many thanks for a very comprehensive response.

What an interesting aircraft; I had no idea.

(It would seem that it's a pity rights to the Helio Courier could not have been acquired by Maule; perhaps it would still be available).

BP.

In the case of the lost quick drain fitting the complete unit spun out of the sump.
As it has a tapered tread, which when screwed to the correct torque, locks in.
This relies on the engineer doing it correctly and the is no visible way of checking.
On the replacement engine it was wired locked into the sump as well, for piece of mind.
Push and twist quick drain operation was not affected.
