Hey Everyone!
Just saying hi, I'm new to the forums and am currently studying for my Air Law exam whilst doing circuits building to my first solo of a PPL.
I'm in the Manchester area but am learning over at John Lennon (Liverpool). If you live near or are ever at the airport gimme a shout as I need more pilot friends!

Hey chaps. I'm 30 hours in. Just about to start my solo nav consolidation hours.
You're both in a very exciting place in your training right now. That first solo is quite something. You'll be in the circuit and your instructor will just suddenly say "make this one to land, ready to go solo?" and in that moment all the nerves will hit you and a lump in your throat will form instantly, but you'll say "okay".
Great feeling.
I've done 8 out of 9 exams too, so I'm concentrating all on the skills test now really.
Good luck guys. Happy flying.

BNI. That's not how it was with me. My instructor did indeed do what you say. The difference was that I didn't feel any nerves at all. I just got on with it. It was only on the drive home when I thought, "****, did I really just fly solo?"
At that point I was so excited I couldn't get home quick enough to tell my then girlfriend (now wife).
Either way, welcome Tim. If you're like me you'll find some very experienced pilots on here who are more than willing to share the experience with you.

Welcome Tim and good luck.
As Genghis said, it can be a lifetime obsession. I recently realized that this year will mark half-a-century (!) since I first went solo, but I still vividly remember looking across in amazement at that empty right-seat, while flying downwind!
I did four hours of glider towing yesterday and a three-hour glider flight on Wednesday. I still enjoy flying immensely and every time, I learn something new.
