Anyone sent an application to FCL recently?

Just sent my PPL(a) application in, wondering what the turnaround time is looking like presently?

Several weeks to fail to answer an email of mine at the moment, if that helps.

Slow. They claim that they are currently endeavouring to assess applications within approximately 10 working days. My recent MEP renewal took twenty four days. £94 and it came back with 11 months remaining. Poor customer service.

I applied on-line on Mon 7th March to change my PPL from JAR to EASA and got the new licence back Tues 15th. Pretty prompt service I'd say

Just for info: I just called FCL to make sure they'd received my application successfully and was advised they're currently operating on a 15-20 working days turnaround. Patience is a virtue!

Despite claiming 10 days when I telephoned to confirm I was sending all of the documents they needed, they still hadn't processed my licence 15 working days later.

You're not allowed to use the privileges of your licence until it's in your grubby mitts, and yet they aren't in any hurry to process applications. Considering the fee for what on the face of it is a very simple process, it's daylight robbery.

But then it's not as bad as the cost for the 'security pass' at my local airport. I use the term 'security' in the loosest possible terms. You can rock up and pay them the £197 in cash, with no one asking to see any photo ID or asking you to prove who you are and suddenly you'll have yourself a pass to the security gate and access to airside. Doesn't seem very secure to me, but best not argue too much or the fee will go up or they may decline to issue you with a pass at all.

Just thought I'd update this for anyone else going through the process at the moment.

I posted my application on the 4th April, I called them every week just to check on progress each time to be told it's working it's way through, on the 28th April the money was taken and according to the FedEx tracking number it was delivered to my neighbour on the 4th May. A little over the 15-20 working days they're apparently working to but I'll get over it.

Too bad I'm a couple of thousand miles away right now though, hopefully all will be in order when I get back.
