RAF Catterick proposed flyin
Today, 10:49 steven walsh - oldham (flying out of Durham teesside)
Good day all,
I'm putting the feelers out at the moment to see if pilots would be interested in a charity fly in at RAF Catterick some time this summer (July/August). This was last used back in 1994 so it be a good opportunity to get this in your books. It wouldn't be the main runway as that is now used as a car park and could make it a bit tricky to land. The runway would be a grass strip just south of the old runway. We plan on having a few activities set up like clay pigeon shooting on our clay range or having a go at with the Royal engineer excavator vehicles and do some digging. We are looking to get a couple of static displays, Chinook and lynx, to have a look around and of course having the mandatory burger van. The length of the grass strip is 815 meters, 2673 feet. If your interested then sent me an email to [email protected] with your name and aircraft you would be bringing. This will help me to start seeing how many people are interested. Like I've already said this is at the early stages but will keep you informed as it moves along.
Many thank
Steve

You have mail. Sounds like a great idea. Perhaps the runway could become permanent...
I've also emailed the boss of my (RAF) club as he may want to publicise to the club, have you tried RAFFCA as I suspect many members might be interested.

I dont normally come in here but I saw a reference to this on Military Aircrew and thought you might be interested in this story about flying into Catterick. I take it nobody is planning on bringing anything as big as a Victor!
