Nearest strip to Norwich

Hi

Can anyone suggest a strip within a taxi ride from Norwich. I need to get up there on Sat afternoon. I have a few ideas, but some local knowledge is appreciated.

Thanks. Felthorpe is an option, but at Taverham, and a good 30 mins from the centre when I last called in there.

I don't think Norwich would really want a Vagabond coming in!! It's far too insignificant and embarrassing for them to have drop in!!

If you want Norwich, go into Norwich, you tight wad.

Do a deal with Saxon Air and park at the flying clubs at west end

Cost you about £35

Then get the bus.

Thanks Cusco. For some reason I'd been led to believe it was going to be at least 4 times that cost.

Have been into Seething (in a C150) - it's about 12 miles away. Nominal cost IIRC.

Funnily enough, despite living in Manchester I was at Norwich International just this morning - by car, to see the Vulcan at the Aviation Museum.

Cost you about £35
Thought it cost me that just for handling a couple of years ago (I didn't get charged a landing fee as it was a weather diversion).

Have heard back from Norwich and it'll be £136 to use it overnight because I have to pay a £70 surcharge to arrive at 1830 hrs which I can't avoid due to work. I like my mother-in-law, but not that much. I think I'll meet the rest of the family there by car, or use Felthorpe.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Priory Farm! ... Great LAA strip, lovely owner and full interesting aeroplanes (three Stearman's, and our L4 for instance). If I didn't have to pick my daughter up from Coventry at midday, I'd give you a lift into Norwich. If you don't have to be in town until mid/late afternoon I still could?

Hi mate,

Good to hear from you. Are you sure you could do that? That might work really well. Family going up in the morning by car but I can't get away until 5pm, so ETA would be 1815 ish. Can pay you in home reared pork!

Wifey can then drop me off on way past when we head home in the morning. Can I pay someone to get me 40 litres of Super unleaded?

PM me your mobile number and we can discuss.

Thanks. :-)

Yes that's no problem.

There should be fuel at the strip though it had run out last week. Check with the owner (Bob Sage) on the fuel situation. His number and all the details you need can be found on the following link.Priory Farm Aviators - The Real PFA - Home

If you specifically want super unleaded I have two Jerry cans we can fill on the way and I'll drop them back at the strip on the way home.

Thanks. Number received.

Leaded 100 is cool - thanks. Didn't realise they had it, and some lead will probably do my valves a bit of good. :-)
