Aviation Music

Hi Slightly different What aviation music do you like? Do you play music while flying and is it aviation specific or a nice piece of classics?

Look at GO by public services broadcasting /all space aviation related tracks

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHIo6qwJarIMaybe not everyone s taste but I like them ))

and Spitfire by same group

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkIa8F1gEp0

Any other pointers to aviation music ? Bit off topic but different ))

Normally I listen to the Lycoming cylinder quartet concerto with McCauley or Sensenich playing solo.

during the apollo moon missions, MUZAK was piped in to keep things nice.

There are some great aviation related songs. I love getting on the plane whistling "the theme from the high and the mighty". Passengers don't get it now, but when one does it is funny.

"come josephine in my flying machine" is a great old one.

the USAF song is a great tune too.

A great song with an aviation theme is Chris Wood's Spitfires

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvkK-8LBjLk there must be a better quality version somewhere on the internet but I need to get to work.

Obviously Pink Floyd's Learning to Fly.

Iron Maiden's Tail Gunner and Aces High.

Saxon's Strangers in the Night

When the dance band begins to play the Dambusters march at the end of comp party, that gets them all out of their seats and flying round the room!

But the standard of awful pop music people paste onto their U-tube ego displays are truly cringemaking.

If you are into military heavy metal and don't mind the strong language then Dos Gringos are fun to listen to.

Several of their songs on U Tube!

Aviation Music

Alan Parsons (post "The Project" but with many of the Project musicians) has a whole album which is aviation-themed, released in 1996. Great album. Tracks cover aspects like gliding, hot-air ballooning, fear of flying, space travel, dreaming of learning to fly, even the musings of Leonardo da Vinci. Guest vocalists include Christopher Cross and Alec Stewart (10CC)

I agree with Pace about PSB. I had been unsuccessfully trying to identify it until it was posted on F***r a while ago.

How about The Zepher Song by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

"Narcotic" by Liquido is featured on a superb FPV video by Black Sheep.https://vimeo.com/14541093

a bit of fun for Friday ....
some more flying related tunes:

Mike Oldfield : Five miles out

Megadeth : High speed dirt

Frank Sinatra : come fly with me

Top Gun music of course , and surely many people enjoy Wagner while ascending.

I'm also off to look at this Alan Parson's album , never knew it existed , thanks 250below10.

Half the German pilots hum "Über den Wolken, muß die Freiheit wohl grenzenlos sein" after Rainhard May. This chap offered us many fine songs, several about the feelings of an aviator.

For myself, what little bit of Belgianness I have prefers the "Marche des Parachutistes"

And may I be allowed to also remember the "Roll over the barrell" popular with RAF pilots while their Luftwaffe counterparts sang "Rosamunde" to the exact same notes?
