Throckmorton Airshow (RAF Pershore) June 6th

Hi All,

We are in the process of preparing two grass strips at the former
RAF Pershore in Worcestershire at the minute. Those who have been flying through the restricted airspace today, might actually have noticed how good they are starting to look!
Might be an idea to look at your Half Mil Charts, Skydemon etc. and not actually enter the airspace though......strange happenings do occur! Not least of all, the dreaded drone activity.

That said, it will be open to the public on June 6th and a limited number of slots are being made available once again.
Longer of the two grass strips estimated at being a little over 410m and obstacle free approaches/climb outs on three of the four ends.
Tickets for the event need to be purchased prior to the event and all in aid of good causes.

XH558, the Bristol Blenheim and many more great displays are confirmed.
Tea/Coffee etc. on arrival for Pilots/Pax and a Marquee with drinks, two course lunch followed by afternoon tea/sandwiches/cakes and somewhere nice to sit all being made possible for a few ££'s more.

If you fancy somewhere a little different for a Logbook entry and a day that promises a superb variety, contact the Flying Display Organiser through the website.

Throckmorton Air Show | Saturday 6 June 2015

Look forward to seeing some of you.

You only had to be out there with the sunblock on yesterday

Let's hope it will be like 2013 and CAVOK.

Where art thou 360, long time no speak on 122:90

There are now 18 confirmed displays at Pershore including Rich Goodwin's re-liveried Pitts Special with his stunning display.

How good is the estimate, as 410m is not a lot. So it could be shorter?

Prior final Pilot's Briefing notes being made available, it will be measured with a wheel once more.
We can also get good estimate from Google Earth.
Additionally, there is a clear de-lethalised run off across 46m concrete Rwy 03/21.

An early view can be assessed from 'Another Husky Flight' on YouTube.
We will fly the strip again soon as now being cut with a good finishing mower.

Slot requests via the Contact Page on show website.

Once the strips are flyable, we will hopefully get some good footage of landings in all four directions. We have cut back some bushes to hopefully provide easier approaches, but that's not to say a Go around at the first attempt is not on the cards.
I need to get some more practice in on the 200m strip at the farm.

It seems that 400m is probably a bit on the short side for many to contemplate, thus we are considering a further option to enable fellow pilots to join us at the old RAF Pershore.

If there is sufficient interest, we will lay on a minibus to collect a limited number of crew/pax from Defford/Croft Farm that according to Lockyears Guide, has 570m.

If of interest, please use the Throckmorton show website contact page and we will explain more.
Anticipated collection at 11:15 local departing back at around 16:45 and the transit time is about 15 mins by road.
