Recommended Books

Hi,

I tried searching but couldn't find much.
Can anyone recommend any flying books that are good for General reading but also have good information and bits of flying wisdom in them? Can gain some knowledge while reading.

Thanks in advance!

'Stick & Rudder'. Should be required read for every pilot. Air France ones in particular.

I'll second 'Fate is the Hunter' by Ernest K. GANN. The best book I've ever read about flying.

'A Gift of Wings' by Richard Bach is up there as well.

Hoover's "Forever Flying" is excellent, as is Doolittle's autobiography.

Bader

Whiskey kilo Wanderer's excellent list gives the authorship of 'Reach for the Sky' as D Bader. In fact, if I recall correctly, it was written by Paul Brickhill.

A second biography of this amazing man, entitled 'Flying Colours' (not to be confused with C. S. Forrester's Hornblower book) by Laddie Lucas was written in about 1980.

Another biography, entitled 'Douglas Bader' was written by John Frayn Turner, who also wrote 'The Bader Wing'.

Another book (author unknown to me) called 'Bader's Last Flight'

There have been numerous other books both by Bader and about Bader listed on the web.

Regards,

BP.

Bach, R Talking To The Ground
Stranger to the Ground, surely? Although Talking To The Ground does have a certain Bachian ring to it...
