PPL at ANT, Blackpool?
Hello,
As many of you may know, I have been a member of this forum for a few years, picking the brains of pilots all over the place. The time has finally come for me to seriously crack on and do my PPL.
I am interested in doing my PPL with A.N.T at Blackpool, and completing a night rating at the same time over an 'intensive' 3 week course (weather permitting). If I do the night rating at the same time, my PPL will have to be completed over the next few months.
Do you think this possible?

Wow. Thank you. That is damn impressive.
My 2 problems now then are finances (I should have the money by February next year, but that means I can't do my night rating till October (based on ANT's working hours), and getting the time off work.
If this is all good, I will be commencing training soon, and hopefully be the proud owner of a PPL.

If you have an EASA pilots licence, you can extend the privileges of your licence by adding a night rating.
This allows you to fly in Visual Flying Rules (VFR) conditions at night, provided that this rating remains valid and you have met the flying recency requirements detailed in FCL.060.
Please note that If you are the holder of an existing UK issued JAR Flight Crew licence which has not already been converted to a Part-FCL licence, then the conversion process will take place when you apply for a night rating. This will require you to send us additional information.

Pre-Requisites
Aeroplanes, TMGs, Airships
You must have completed a training course at an ATO that includes:
theoretical knowledge instruction
5 hours of flight time in the appropriate aircraft category at night, including at least 3 hours of dual instruction, including at least 1 hour of cross-country navigation with at least one dual cross-country flight of at least 50 km
5 solo take-offs and 5 solo full-stop landings.
Before completing the training at night, LAPL holders must have completed the basic instrument flight training required for the issue of the PPL.
If you hold both a single-engine piston aeroplane (land) and a TMG class rating, they may complete the requirements above in either class or both classes.

The night rating can also be completed whilst training for your PPL, as there is no test or anything, just hours logged in your log book within certain times of day. This is what I hope to do, as it will save me a few hundred quid.

Be very careful committing any money to a Blackpool school until next week, the local press rumour is that the airfield may cease to exist from Monday. Nothing I am saying is fact yet, but the press sometimes get it right.....

Blackpool ANT
I completed my PPL at ANT last year and would recommend ANT and Blackpool airport.I travelled from near Glasgow to ANT,and wouldn't hesitate to use them again,the airfield is fantastic for (PPL) training,lets hope there is a buyer out there for Blackpool,cheers,

As a current ppl student at ANT I cannot recommend them highly enough.
I started my training with a different "academy" and I was put off after 6 hrs or so. I couldn't understand why it should be so difficult to book lessons, instructors, and aircraft at the same time. After a break I decided to revisit flying, and thankfully visited ANT. The difference was/is amazing. The aircraft are superbly maintained, the service is friendly and welcoming, and the instructors first rate.
The Blackpool weather?........well....that's a whole different story.
Take the opportunity to fly with a family concern that started off in '47.
