Just reflecting on UK GAR procedures. Just returned from short EU trip in a light aircraft..
Requested Customs 6hr. notice at small French airfield, all OK but no Customs attendance. Left France through Customs field again no attendance as usual. No Pass.port examination while out of UK.
Arrive back in UK, full online GAR sent 24 hrs earlier with details of EU 3 POB. (Employee of Royal Household, Atomic Energy Security person, Airline pilot.)
Two friendly Border staff drove out from office 25 miles distant, looked at PPorts, nice chat, after 15 mins. drove off. We could have had one stowaway in the spare seat I suppose.
Meanwhile lorry\container loads of Illegal Immigrants arrive in UK unchecked.
Funny old world!!

So maybe if the French/Belgium lot were as keen at checking things leaving to the UK, we wouldn't have container loads of asylum seekers making it this far?
Just how many countries in which you could seek asylum, would an "Afghan Sikh" need to travel through and not seek asylum in, until they reached the UK?!
