I believe that this is a known issue after they upgraded / changed something else (others have also complained). Roads appear on the paid for version. Because it doesn't affect the airspace views NATS aren't likely to care and they aren't going to make money from the "light" version so it isn't a priority.

Roads don't work at the moment on the free version of SD. It's really meant as a free airspace planning tool / NOTAM viewer rather than a navigation tool.

Memory map is good but I find the A4 printing restriction a bit of a pain. A3 would be more useful and would stop me getting Sellotape stuck to everything!

Yes, I can see that and excellent it is as well, just find it a (slight) irritant when something does not do what it says on the tin - suppose I can always ask for my money back

You can use this easier to read free (my preferred system) for plotting courses & seeing Notams, also has France etc with plans for their Notams too in the pipeline.
Shows a reasonable basic map with overlays for airfields and airspace. I have daily e-mails sent too, with a short relevant update of NOtams which alerts me to major items before opening the web map.

NOTAM Info | Up to date NOTAMS plotted on a map, or delivered via RSS feeds and Email

Small inconvenience, just use the latitude graduations on the chart as you should have been taught!
