Cirrus / SEP rental in Sydney and Melbourne
I'll be spending three weeks in Sydney and Melbourne later this month and would like to take to the skies. Here in the UK I fly an SR20 G3, but I have previously flown PA28 and C172.
From searching the web, I've seen that Royal Victoria Aero Club offers an SR22 for hire. Does anyone know of other Cirrus aircraft for hire in Sydney or Melbourne? Or other friendly clubs with PA28/C172 for hire?
Would a club let you hire solo after a check-out? Any recommendations for scenic trips around the Sydney/Melbourne areas?
Finally, I understand that a 90-day temporary licence can be issued on the back of my EASA PPL - can anyone confirm this is the case?

Yes, with regards the licence, but have a look on the CASA web site - there is the usual confirmation to be obtained from the UK CAA all of which take time and money so make sure you deal with the applications well before you go.
I dont know the East coast so I cant help on the other questions.
I do know the Cirrus very well and obviously the transition to a SR22 is straight forward from a SR20 and you will be very pleasantly surprised how much more performance there is.

You might find it's more trouble than it's worth to get up in the cirrus - they're pretty particular, however they have a lot of PA28's of various flavours and a couple of C172's.
Trips wise, there's a lot worth doing: Flying down round wilsons prom is pretty, as is lakes entrance; brown brothers winery have a strip that can make for a very nice day out (bit of a pig to get hold of them for PPR in my experience); heading down the great ocean road is also pretty, you can fly over the city scenic stuff.
In sydney - victor 1 is the must-do. I'd almost say take an instructor anyways, it's all a bit busy, and you might want to spend some time looking out the window. I've done it twice and on both occasions got harbour orbits also, but that's a bit dependent on getting a word in edgeways between the big-tin playing at the main airport. Pretty unique experience however. Bankstown is a bit congested, and the nav can be a little interesting with the lanes of entry - it's certainly 'easier' to wally around melbs, but I'm biassed
