you could ask for traffic service, depends what you want. You are the pilot now, these are your decisions.

Yeah, the Grob GPS is not always usable so I've plotted the line on my chart as well for a back up.

This is the wrong way around, particularly if you're using this as CPL practice.
A quick google search shows that we are talking about a Garmin 100 here, one of the most baisc GPS systems imaginable, not even 12 channel, so will constantly drop out, especially with the GPS jamming around spadeadam just now. I would say it's the right way round.

I really don't see the point of the requirement for a solo CPL QXC.

You have to fly a cross-country to get a PPL. That's fine, you need to demonstrate that you can navigate your aircraft away from the local zone unaided.

However, doing the same thing again but a little bit further this time requires no extra skills whatsoever. So what's the point?

Furthermore you could cock up the flight, get hopelessly lost, bust airspace and require radar vectors from D&D all the way around your route but provided your logbook shows the flight was over the required distance that would be deemed OK.

A pointless requirement in my view. But good luck to the OP anyway

My QXC took 3 lines in the log book for the 2 landaways. Just write across all three lines clearly, thats what I did.

FWIIW, the CAA let me count the 300 nm QXC that I did as an FAA student pilot in the USA.

The weather in't looking great for tomorrow. I think it may be too hazy, especially around Edinburgh and the Fife coast. I'm not too sure if I'll be able to get the QXC done, if not I'll go flying for an hour and do some GH.

Had a great flight yesterday. Never managed to get to Durham because of the weather but flew to Lanark race course and did a zone transit through Glasgow overhead as well. Was a lot of fun, had to hold for a while at Glasgow due to lots of commercial traffic. It also gave me lots of good practice at diversions and RT as well.
