Sounds like you got bad treatment there AC-DC.

AMS there have been other threads referring to Panshanger. Try doing a search for them.

I used to train there and out of all the schools in the north of London, I thought it was by far the best.
No landing fees, hidden charges etc.
The instructors are good and it's a friendly place with a fantastic grass strip, plus it's the only school on the airfield.
Go and check it out and see for yourself!!
Plenty of variety of aircraft and very reasonable prices.

AC-DC,

Sorry to hear that your experience with Panshangar wasn't great. I for one would be interested if you would expand a little...?

AMS,

I fly from Panshangar. Having joined with my PPL already, they naturally required me to complete some check flights before signing me off for solo hire. I am particulary impressed with the instructor whom I had the pleasure of flying with for those few hours.

The fleet of training aircraft is varied and generally well maintained. From memory they have 3 PA-28-140's, 1 PA-28-180, and a handfull of Tommahawks and small Cessna's. Please someone correct me if I'm slightly wrong there.

I have come across some small idiosyncrascy's, most of which after some thought appear reasonable. They just take a couple of hours of getting used to.

You didn't mention whether or not your friend was a PPL or a potential students, but either way, I think he or she will be impressed with the availability of aircraft and instructors alike. As spancan mentioned, the prices are very reasonable.

Perhaps if there is anything else you would like to know, I can help you if post it.

Regards,

FJW.

Thanks for the advice guys.

They seem fine. I have not yet seen the aircraft. Last I heard it was something like £103 for a tomahawk Dual and £109 for PA 28 140, However, no landing fees is all cool.

But I did find that it was brakes off to on. It takes approx 12minutes or longer at any airfield for checks and taxi. therefore the 1.0 very quickly becomes 1.2 hours..thus the £ 109 quickly become £130.50 Per hour!

Also there is a charge for groundschool. This is normal and nothing wrong with it. My friend wants to train for his PPL. Another has it and is already thinking about becoming a member there...

Any ideas on this...

Must say the club seems friendly and excellent people..

Thanks
