No need to worry about these ones. They're 800m off the final approach track/climbout, well to the south, and nowhere near high enough to be in anyone's way.

That sounds pretty close to the village. I can see a few objections there unless the company resorts to bribery. They wouldn't do that though.

Nice vid. Was that taken a while ago? Last time I flew over the strip both sides were littered with equipment and vehicles. It resembled a scrap yard.

The "Parkie" heard us coming and parked his wee yellow van in the middle of the strip. We gave him some exersize again on the way back.

Picturesque Eyesore's

Well, not content with putting a large bridge to ruin what could be one of the most beautiful parts of Europe, lets really make a total pigs ear of it and erect a couple of wind turbines

Will blend in well with the scrap yard that was once an airstrip, and totally ruin any vista.

Yes, cultural differences? Paying for it now are'nt we

Wonder the make up of t'commiteeee

Thanks Floppy Link. Apologies to all. I've corrected position. The link I was given to the plan didn't work. Deeplinks to the site don't work.I was asked to spread the information by the Skye Flying Club.
For the position:
12/02244/FUL | Installation of two 20kw wind turbines on 20m masts | Land 225M SE Of 5 Ashaig Ashaig Upper Breakish Breakish and click on plan 2.
They're to the south of the road.
PS It's worth clicking on the CAA response to consultation, to see their position to windmills at present.

Let's not get too carried away. These are 27 metres high - domestic/farm-scale turbines - on someone's croft land. It's really nothing to get excited about. Plenty examples of these - and higher ones - ON airfields elsewhere.

As to the CAA response, all this is saying is that they don't comment any more (a) because safeguarding is the responsibility of the aerodrome operator (Highland Council in this case) and (b) because the number of wind turbine applications is so large that they can't possibly respond to them all.

As for ruining the view, you'll need binoculars to even notice them unless you're within a few hundred metres.
