Question Rebuild Project Wanted

I'm looking for an interesting rebuild project, preferably a type with some timber involved.

If you know of anything (non-PFA) that's gathering dust in a hangar or mouldering on the tie downs I would very much like to hear about it.

If it's not a daft question, why on earth do you want something non-PFA. They are likely to be the only people able to approved the repair schemes, etc. without charging you more than the aeroplane is worth?

There are a handful of slowly mouldering Dragon Rapides at Chirk (Oswestry) that might be worth checking out.

Fancy a P-38. There are two of them at Biggin Hill with the same owner. One is beyond repair, the other needs parts and some work. You might get a job lot out of the guy. If you're interested, e-mail me and I'll send you the details.
I would echo GtheE's comments. Far safer and better with the PFA....Having said that, the P-38s are Certificate aircraft!

---------------------------------------------

They're Tomahawks not Lightnings, so I suppose the above should read PA-38s....

There is an Ercoupe and a large Jodel slowly decomposing in a barn in Suffolk. The owner is a farmer (so he probably wants really silly money for them!!)
if interested drop me a note and I'll put you in touch.

Thumbs up

Thanks folks, e-mails winging their way.

The reason I don't want a PFA type is that the plan is to have the aircraft on line with the local club/school afterward. If it were just for my use then I'd bo looking for a nice replica SE5 or Mustang or Spitfire or.........droooooooooooooolllllllllllll

Whilst you need a C of A for teaching, there's nothing to stop an aircraft on a permit being syndicated up to 20 ways within a club.

Thanks Genghis. The idea would be to have the school use it too.

Flintstone, have you been down the "renting a plane to a school route" before? If you haven't, make sure the contract is bullet proof, watertight and covers your financial a*se in every possible way. I've tried it. If you want to talk about it, drop me an e-mail.

No wood but there's a possibilty of a Zlin 526 if you're interested. No engine and it won't be straightforward on the paperwork side, but airframe is sound.
