Yes, you can either walk across the field through the back of the churchyard or round the old taxiway and into the village. I walked the long way round and it takes about ten minutes steady stroll. As the crow flies I would say it's around 300 mtrs.

Garston Farm
I suspect that this strip has been mentioned before, however I flew into Garston today.
What a wonderful gem it is. The strip is very well kept. We parked up by the caravan and was met by the owners. They suggested the best route into town.
For information the directions were to walk through the gap in the trees behind the caravan, across the yard towards the three concrete blocks, along the track until a gate appears on the right, through the gate and then immediately left along the lay-by and into town. An easy route which also avoids walking along the busy A420.
Although we arrived before The Lord Nelson opened, we enjoyed a lovely drink in the village tearooms, which are perhaps only a further 100m along the high street.

Finally got to Croft Farm today! (see post @ 125). By God it was hot today though. Excellent pub and very pleasant farm shop that sells local beer and cider. Another one I shall return to. Have been back to Great Massingham and the Dabbling Duck still impresses. Another very frendly place, no pub but cookery on site at weekends is Beverley (Linley Hill). Called in there last month and cooked breakfast is £3.50!
Out here in the antipodes one can but dream of the idyllic flying life
you lot have within your compass. Calls to mind Hal Penrose and his musing and meanderings aloft over Dorset and Devon, spying out old Roman Roads and Barrows and such. Refer - 'Airymouse' and 'Cloud Cuckooland'.
Not that he was ever on any kind of pub crawl. Too intent on looking for food for the soul. He had all those Putnam histories to write too.
There are a few notable places in Australia where airfield and town are close enough for the short stroll. Ones that I know of, of old,
but still drop into these days, are Cootamundra, Camden, Merimbula and Apollo Bay.
But top of the pops has to be Lady Barron on Flinders Island. The Furneaux Tavern is worthy of a plug. And the beer is fine anytime of year. I must declare .. . .my heart is there . . tho' I've been from Darwhine to Old Dapto.

My favourite is the Kingarth Inn, about 10 mins walk from Bute airstrip.
Do not forget to leave a small contribution there towards the grass-cutting or post a cheque to the Scottish Flying Club c/o Sandy Cameron, 1c Belmont Rd, Ayr, KA7 2PH

Roserrow
Hi
I'm just going to give this thread a bit of a boost from the archive, and place a vote for Roserrow. It's just across the water from St Mawgan. A nice and interesting field for strip pilots to visit.
The food in the golf club/health club is far, far better than "good pub".
It's also about a mile's scenic walk to the beach: a very popular place too!
Request for a PPR slot from the health club.
-My advice would be to act politely. They aren't flyers, and just log expected arrivals in a book. They aren't being restrictive if they say they can't take you at 11:00. It just means that they've written someone else down for that half hour slot. They've just run out of lines in the book. The rest of it is just so chilled, it really is all down to you.
-The other thing is to politely avoid approaches over the barns at the end of the field. That can be awkward, but do a curved approach like at Popham. The You tube video shows a straight in approach (naughty).

Binham, Norfolk. Strip is 200 metres from the pub which is better than excellent.
East Winch. Pub is about 20 mins walk away, The Carpenters. Very good too.
Another vote for the DD at Gt Massingham.

Binham also appears on some guides as Manor Farm. Lovely smooth strip. About 3 miles due south of Langham or 5ish miles NNE of Little Snoring.
There is an abbey in Binham which is worth a wander about.

Couple of others I've been to recently
Enstone, hard and long runway (grass also if you want it)-very nice pub about 25 minutes walk to the local village.
Sandown-grass, long enough for most normal aircraft-nice caff on site and about 30 minutes walk to the front.
Old Warden-grass, shortish, around 500 metres if I remember right. Been a few times but probably one of the best GA places to visit in the country. Nice eatery on site. Off there next Saturday weather permitting.

And on the other side of the world I can recommend Milawa, Victoria, Australia (YILA).
Brown Bros winery is just across the road from the air strip. A pub and other accommodation are within walking distance.
