Zone Crossing

Any one any experience of obtaining clearance to cross the Durham Newcastle and Edinburgh class D during the week?

I've always been cleared straight through all three, no problems. I have heard that Edinburgh can be too busy at times.

Zone Clearance

Hi

I've never had a problem with zone clearance. Edinburgh Newcaslte and Durham are always very helpful. I usually have Radar Information requested or now traffic information. At about FL6- FL 8

You're a bit low!!! Do you get a nose bleed if you go too high?

Depends on what level........I am Scottish information in my day job!!.....any traffic routing towards Edinburgh I will pass the details to Edinburgh and depending on level and runway in use they will normally accomadate a zone crossing. It may require a level change or even some radar vectoring but normally not a problem....good luck....if you operate at FL055 or below give me a call 119.875mhz.

Thanks for all the comments. Trip is planned for Tuesday and would probably try and route east of Edinburgh across the First of Forth if allowed

Very occasionally Edinburgh can be too busy but are very accomodating, usually no problem however. Today it was like the Marie Celeste!

ATC normally like you to stay <2000' VFR but you can request higher. Think I heard someone go through this morning at 6000'.

Justicair,
SAB -PTH if using VORs. North Berwick - Earlsferry for shortest overwater if you're IFR (I follow roads). It's all class G north of Newcastle zone except P600 which is class A from FL85 over PTH.
As the others say no problems getting crossings. Edinburgh prefer overhead at below 2000 ft. if using their zone.
Controlled airspace over Edinburgh to FL 245
DO.
