Have you tried the former airfield of RAF Cheddington 10 miles North West of bovingdon. on the south side of this former airfield there is an airstrip with several hangars, there was mention that hangarage was available....

Sorry i have no contact details...

TVM Trev. We're already looking at Chedd. Otherwise the search goes on.

RAF Halton are friendly but you MUST follow their local procedures; the Air Cadet SLMGs have absolute priority and if they're operating, you have to use the glider strip rather than the runway.

A lot of the Buckinghamshire microlight club people operate from a large barn and short hard runway on a disused airfield near Tring, which would be roughly on your 20 mile limit. I'm not sure, but think it's the old Cheddington/Marsworth wartime airfield. Shouldn't be too hard to track them down.

Thanx for inputs. Bov is (ironically) not available for aircraft use - local by-laws or some such. Waiting a response from Halton.

Isn't that Mr Pooleys own strip? I expect to be corrected! I always seemed to pass it by when the viz was marginal on my way back to Plaistow's.

Slight addition to Chevron's comment. I am training at Halton Aero Club and while yes, the air cadets get priority, we don't land on the glider side when the cadets are operating (the tugs do that). However, we do play second fiddle to them which means limited movements; some holding; and no circuits. That said, they are a decent lot and at least two of us have squeezed in first solos around air cadet operations recently without breaking any rules. Also, they only operate weekends and some weekdays in the school holidays.
