Runway near Haworth/Keighley Yorkshire

While driving around in and around Haworth I have seen a variety of aircraft taking off from somewhere high above Howarth. I have found it on os map but not on Google Earth or anywhere else.

Does anyone have any info?

Known locally as Denholme International. Only about 5 miles away from me.

Devil Debholme International?

Looks like it will be the new base for RYR.

On their timetables as Manchester.

Best described as an 'interesting' location. Definitely not for the faint hearted, or anyone who's only used to big hard runways.

That's the place where I pushed the aircraft backwards until the tail touched the fence. I then started up then gave it full throttle down the runway across the bumps, which were so bad that I went into IMC as I finally rotated - my baseball cap had fallen forwards across my eyes and I took off completely blind. Definitely not for the faint hearted.

I never realised this place existed until last week where we were in a debate.

I have an association with a local estate agent who is/has put a house up for sale nearby and was worried about the particulars he wanted it to mention the airfield in the sales sheet.

I have never been to this place but may pop up for a browse round when the weather picks up (not this weekend then)

The estate agent has a friend who has landed there/has a plane etc.

Sounds a bit like Eddsfield which suddenly appeared on the CAA map this year.

Yes it is a bit like Eddsfield.
But you need the right sort of aeroplane and the right sort of hat.

At least Eddsfield has the convenience of a nearly-on-site crematorium if you get it all wrong.

And Eddsfield has runways, not scraped off moorland

If you survive the arrival, the folks aren't too bad - just count your fingers after you shake hands

Isn't Oxenhope the highest elevation airfield in the UK?

Great little airfield in my view

wow

I made a trip to Oxenhope yesterday (by car!). I have never taken off from a grass strip before and must say it looked all a bit scary! I didn't see any planes taking off but could imagine them scraping the tops of the trees at the end of runway.
Does anyone know what the largest/heaviest aircraft to land/ take off from there is?
