Just a PPRuNe fly-in. I work at Tatenhill, and AFAIK the 29th July fly-in is still on.

Cool pPrune Fly-In

It will be great to see everyone on 19th August but what about coming in on Saturday 29th July which is when we are holding our Annual Fly-In.

We will have three aerobatic displays (12:30, 14:15, 15:00) - 2 x Yak 52 (Gennady Elfimov), 1 x Anonov AN2 (John Calverley/Dave Holland in the Big Bear).

We are opening the grass runway on this date to encourage PFA aircraft to attend. The grass runway is closed throughout the rest of the year.

Have a look at our website www.esfc.org.uk for full details.

We are also carrying out aero experiences throughout the day in a Pitts as well as helicopter trial flights at the Fly-In (29th July).

Let me know if this is of interest?

We would be really pleased to see a large turnout on the day!

Hello Tiddles,

We shall try and make it on the 29th with the Chipmunks.

Any chances of swapping the Free landing fee for some fish and Chips?

Regards,

Tatenhill Fly-In

Hey Shockload!

Excellent news - look forward to seeing you on the day, Chippies are always a good crowd puller.

We'll see if we can find someone to wrap your 'chippies' in newspaper with a shake of salt and vinegar.

Ladies and gentlemen,
I have just phoned Tatenhill ref this event, and as a result was sent the following e mail:

Must have been a mistake we haven't organised anything for that date if it was on I would have to know about it.
regards
Mike Shelton airfield operator

Shame, but there is NO event as advertised. Oh well, have to find somewhere else to go instead!

This isn't an event organised by the airfield which is why they might not be aware - as WhirlyBird stated earlier, it is just a PPRuNE fly-in. I'm still planning to have a visit there on the 19th and to hopefully meet with some of you guys.

I plan to be arriving around 1000-1030, but will have to depart before noon due to other commitments in the afternoon.

Looking forward to seeing you all - we'll make sure that we are here to welcome you and Margaret will have the kettle on and the cafe in full swing for when you arrive.

Any ideas how many might be arriving.

Is anyone still planning on going? I don't have any instructing, so have a day off. But I'll drop in and say hi if anyone is planning on flying in. Wx doesn't look good though.

Whirlybird

It will be touch and go tomorrow with the wx, looking at the various news sources this evening it looks like lots of CB will be forming right over the top of Tatenhill, and this from the MetOffice:

EAST MIDLANDS EGNX 181606Z 190024 19008KT 9999 SCT020 TEMPO 0209 8000 PROB40 TEMPO 0308 4000 BR BKN006 TEMPO 1016 7000 SHRA PROB30 TEMPO 1116 4000 TSRA BKN014CB TEMPO 1624 8000 -RA BKN014

I'll do another check nearer the time but it doesn't look too good.

At least I might be able to get an IMC lesson in the gloom! Hope it improves by Sunday.

Good old Summer! I was 1500 ft QNH over Fradley at 1000A today, almost in cloud and the air was as rough as hell at all levels. May I wish you all better luck next year.

It's a genuine shame when people put such effort into making these fly-ins happen, only for the WX to wreck it. The Microlight Fly-in and barn dance at Darley Moor today has gone the same way.
