Thumbs up IOM VOR - photo from below!?

Hi all, we had a great flight to Newtownards and back via IOM on the weekend - I was really pleased as we were able to use IMC rating in anger when required to break the cloud layers etc and cope with the grey-meets-grey low cloud over the Irish sea, quite a confidence booster really, made much easier by having two IMC rated pilots up-front in to share the workload when necessary.

We also got to go to two great little airfields as well -- I can't tell you how friendly the people were at Newtownards, great service too, and the welcome at Sleap on our return route was wonderul - and lovely toasted sarnies, yum!

The photos for those interested are here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/andyhar...7594121868219/

I particularly like this photo of the IOM VOR on Spanish Head at the southern tip of the Isle of Man as we passed by on Sunday morning on our way home -- I think we may have been below it!

Nice pic ... but can you resize it to a maximum of 800x600 pixels please

Many of our readers have little choice in the screens they use and this size gives the best compromise between losing detail and having to scroll horizontally to read all the text.

Your co-operation is appreciated. Thanks.

PS feel free to change the link back to an image once there is a smaller one available.

Nice photos. The pics of Sleap brought back memories as I lived in Wem, about 4 miles north of Sleap, before moving to the frozen north to become an ATCO.

Have also walked around the perimeter track more times than I care to remember - in daylight as well as at night!

Nice Phots Andy,

How did you get your GPS track line, onto Google Earth? I have a GPS196, and would like to be able to do the same.

Cheers

Mark

Radar: I think most people can deal with the larger images OK as people tend to have large monitors these days!

Odi: glad the pics of Sleap were of interest!

SKYYACHT: Simply upload your tracklog on http://www.goflying.org/ then they have a way which automatically gets it into Google Earth!
