Brooklands

Times recently showed the new Daimler/Mercedes complex being built at Brooklands. Their picture seemed to show that the old runway, or what was left of it has gone.

Having flown in to the museum on open days a few times, can I assume that fixed wing visiting is now over for keeps?

I had a meeting there late last year, they told me that the new runway should be online in about a year - which I took as late 2005.

Plans are to have a grass runway laid out next to the Daimler-Benz test track which will be usable by the museum for fly-ins. The old runway is indeed gone, apart from the section south of Welington way which I think will remain in place (but unusable)

End of 2005?? I very much doubt it. Last meeting I went to they were talking 2 years. It's only going to be 500 metres long and doesn't appear to have an awful lot of parking space.

Brooklands are talking of having a fly-in at Dunsfold later this year.
