Talking Brisbane Xmas Bash

Right it's been confirmed! I'm in Brisbane from 8th December till the 1st January. So whose going to join me for a pre xmas bash in brizzy.

I propose that we use the same venue as last time, unless someone can think of somewhere better/more interesting/fun etc!

Anyway get in quick and then have the experience of a Pro (Ozexpat) to drink us all under the table!

Ok, whose interested?

Ahhhh, now we're talking!!!

When OzExpat was her last December, we arranged a 'bash' at the Breakky Creek Hotel.
A good venue, only this time I'd probably suggest staying there for dinner instead of trekking accross the bridge to the highly over-priced and understaffed seafood restaurant

We had a relatively poor turnout though, some of that due to communications errors
I'd definately suggest swapping mobile numbers with a few fellow bashers

There's an assortment of accomodation to suit all budgets within walking/staggering distance of the pub.

I know Disco Stu and myself would probably be in for anothere Brisvegas Bash in december, now all we have to do is gather up the likes of OzEx Wirraway Chimbu Chuckles and maybe even Flinstone if he's able to get out from the mother land once more

Some others I can think of in the general vicinity and I'll do some emailing and suggestive persuasion

The weekend of the 12th(fri), 13th and 14th could be a good choice.
I can help out a little from here, as I'm based on the Sunshine Coast
I can find out if it's best to book tables for dinner. This pub gets really busy, and it's huge, with a few choices of eating areas, but still, it's best to know these things in advance.

Still a few months away, and I know how it can be with rosters etc... so I doubt that there will be much committed interest in this until it's a bit closer to December.
Maybe as it draws closer we could ask a sticky to be put up in D&G.....given that there's probably a huge number of readers who don't even know a Bashes forum exists on this web site

Anyway, sounds like a plan OzPax1

Ahhhh there ya go GG... ya just KNOW that I'll be in it! Not sure if I can make a date so early in December though. The week later would make all the difference for me... Fri 19 December or Saturday 20 December would work best for me. Will the same accommodation arrangements be possible this year?

Not sure that Flintstone can make it this year, but I've already established comms for a p!ssup in my current vicinity. And, yes, we've already exchanged mobile phone nrs...

Ah GoGirl....Ozex did tell me to post and then sit back and wait....!

I'm at the moment fairly free as to dates, but the closer it gets it's more likely that family plans will take priority (it's the reason I'm out in Oz after all...!). I can probably convince my Dad to come as well and he and Ozex & Chimbu can talk about PNG all night (Dad is an old PNG hand...!! )

PM me if needed.

I am still fairly new to this site and have never been to a bash. They sound like a lot of fun. Would like to meet some fellow ppruners. You can count me in.

I don't see any reason why the dates you suggested wouldn't be suitable OzEx, sounds like a plan

True Christmas Drinks at the Breakky Creek Hotel...the place will be pumping and the wx will be sultry. Blokes in loud shirts, chicks in skimpy tee's and tight pants

(That should get a few in )

Just let us know what dates you're in town OzEx and we'll make sure we leave you the key and the cat whilst we shoot through
Nah, kidding!! Of course you the same arrangements are perfectly acceptable - on 1 condition;
The accomm in Brisvegas, well, it's like this - I flatly refuse to stay there again
Call me a princess.
There was nothing wrong with the place...if you're a bloke or a backpacker

I'll park my behind at the swanky joint a few feet closer to the pub

I'd say there's a likely chance that Birdy will be able to attend this year - that will certainly get jaws dropping and tongues wagging

I can already taste the refreshments and smell the famous steaks, can't bloody wait to see you all there.
Don't forget to check back on this thread again closer to December, and as I mentioned, we'll also try to put up a thread in Dunnunda a few weeks out from the gathering to stir up anyone who's roster will have prevented them from prior committment to attendance

Cheers
GG

And OzPax, cool, bring your Dad along, because my other half is also quite familiar with, and loves a good yarn about, PNG too

He will be in plenty good company

Where are you staying whilst in BN? Are you heading up the Coast at all? If so, you should get in touch with me and we will arrange a day out, possibly whilst OzEx is here too?
Food for thought

Cheers
GG

I'm more than happy to park meself at the same said "swanky joint", GG. That being the case, tho, DS might have a bit more trouble with a room door than he had last year!

Geez OzEx you really want your bed in December don't you

xx

It just so happens that a couple of us PPRuNers/Jetblasters got together at the Brekky Creek last Fiday evening.
It is still great, the steaks were magnificent and the accomodation around Hamilton and Breakfast Creek is a dime a dozen, and as previously mentioned; caters for all budget ranges.
Check out Wotif and last minute 2 weeks out from the proposed date of this gathering and you wil find some good deals on accom as well.

Cheers
GG

Yes, I really, really, really, really do!

It was such a pleasure to talk to GG last Friday, on me way to yet another fantastic Ozbash venue in Perth. I quickly discovered that she was already rat-faced, so I guess that's all the proof we need that the Brekky Creek pub is still as good as ever!

How did Dale survive the experience?

More to the point, how did Dale and his better half suvive 10 days in PNG

Ahhh, gee, ther's a story to be told there, well, more about the return through customs....I'd say it will be a sore point with Dale for quite some time to come...needless to say, the other half shopped her way through Brisbane Duty Free for half the victorian population!! (Admittedly, they were having a 20% off sale )

Given we were heavily into the Wild Turkeys, my wallet didn't sustain too bad a beating - it was when the reds started coming out that I knew I would end up paying in more ways than one

The last thing I recall was being likened to 'Bozo' the clown as I stumbled through the lobby of the swanky hotel at 0-something o'clock

Well, OP1, it's like this... yer gunna find out about the really professional p!ssheads in December! I'm sure that we'll all be treated to a further appearance by "Bozo the Clown" then!

Must remember to change GG's name on me mobile phone! Maybe a more appropriate jingle too...

Meanwhile, until GG gets at me (oh I wish! ), I better send this thread back to the top. Can't have anyone forgetting about it. For the benefit of those who don't know about the venue, the Brekky Creek pub is a large establishment, right on Brekky Creek (of course! ) that serves all sorts of booze, even for the least discerning palatte!

And the steaks havta be seen to be believed! They're bloody monsters! I'm gunna get into practice over the next few months so's I can back up for a second steak... maybe it'll be some kinda record for that Guinness Book...?
