Nr Fairy,

For nearly a week now I’ve watched this topic and hoped that one of the Washington DC PPRuNers would respond to your post. Instead, the thread has just fallen further down the forum – it doesn’t give a very good impression of my hometown!

I’m going to give the other DC posters the benefit of the doubt, however, and guess that the lack of response is because they rarely, if ever, check the Bashes forum. Maybe notice on another forum, such as North America, would give your arrival enough visibility to produce a small gathering? Good luck!

P.S. – it seems as though you may be here on business and therefore have the full benefit of local advice, but if you need tips on places to shop, eat, drink, see, etc., just ask.

PP :

I've sort of mentioned it in Chat to TM, but I think I may need to be more direct !

Lily :

Offer gratefully received - I am in DC on business, but I intend to make use of the company's money in the best possible manner !

NrF, I've been reading this thread with interest as well, because I occasionally have the opportunity for a trip to the DC area.

As of now, I'm not scheduled to go there while you're in town, but things change. I'd enjoy meeting up with you, TM, Lily, and whoever else can be there, if the opportunity presents itself. Do you have a contact number in DC, in case something changes at the last moment? You can PM me if you prefer not to post it publicly.

I will be meeting RDRickster on Saturday 23rd.

I'll be staying at the JW Marriott on Pennsylvania Avenue, will have access to email, and the hotels number is 203 393 2000.

My mobile number is <no longer available!> it *should* work if DC has GMS coverage, but otherwise hotel and / or email should be fine !

Never been to a PPRuNe Bash in US But I'm visiting PHL that time (from 20th to 25th)

What's the easiest way to get to Washington? (Does US-Air have flights - that would be ideal as I ID00 with them )

Is the Bash a "goer"?

My definition of a Bash is where two or more PPRuNers get together . . .

23rd, I'll be at some bar RDRickster has nominated - details to follow - and available for beers all the other nights I'm in the US.

ESG,

US Air flies direct between Philadelphia and Washington National several times each day, and the flight takes less than 1 hour. Because National is very close to the city center and right on the Metro line, it’s very convenient (I’m not sure about Philadelphia airport’s proximity to the city center or public transportation).

If you can’t fly for free, or if you can only take flights to Dulles or BWI, you might want to investigate the train as an option. The new fast train (the “Acela Express”) is nice, and it takes about 1.5 hours to travel between Philly and DC. The total travel time is roughly comparable to flying - in fact, it may even be less once all factors (getting to the airport, going through security, arriving 45 minutes early…) are taken into account.

Nr Fairy,

I’m glad to see that your DC bash-ette will take place!

Thanks for that.

Want to make it a foursome ? We're all normal (think) apart from we're connected with aviation !

Old Ebbitt Grill, 675 15th St NW - 202 347 4800.

Table is booked for 5:30pm. At least one of us will have a little PPRuNe badge, and my mobile does work over here.
