QR AKL Service

Does anyone have any idea of the likelihood of the new DOH-AKL route to actually go ahead in February next year, after these two recent delays (from Dec to 01 Feb, and then 01 Feb to 07 Feb)?

I am booked on the maiden flight (which I am very excited about) and am wondering if I should be ok to make arrangements for the other end. I noticed on another website that QR is only offering cancelled customers the option of either a refund (resulting in a big loss if other things are booked) or them paying their own way on rebooked flights to AKL, which seems crazy (and unaffordable for me if it were to come to that).

I understand that the delays are due to A350 aircraft delivery delays, but Airbus says all the planned ones will be deliver as planned for this year, which implies February should be fine. I found a A350 production/delivery site and QR is in line to get quite a few this year.

Thanks for any advice and guidance.

Check their conditions of carriage. In there they will set out what they will do if your flight is cancelled. Note the AKL service is not a flight covered by European regulation.

If your flight is cancelled ask if they can reroute you on other airlines. Of course they can, the question is will they ...
