Thomsonfly 767-300 Cabin Refit?

Good Evening.

Just a quicky regarding the Interior Refits that the Thomsonfly 767s are recieving/will receive.

Im flying to San Juan with them in 3 weeks on a cruise charter and the only thing i can find about the cabin upgrades is on the Thomfly website, and all it says is all 767 A/C will be refit by May 2007.

Does anyone know if any A/C have been worked on already and which ones they are?

I'd rather not have to strain to see a ceiling mounted TV for 9hrs

Any info would be appreciated!

Matt

Hi Matty, As far as I know the 8 current 763's are in the process of having re-fits, I cannot confirm this thou, But it is planned to have the 75 76 fleet completed for May 2007.

As the SAS say - It might not go to plan??

I am more involved with the 757, hence the username, some airframes are over 14 years old now - one owner from new & still going strong!!

Have a good 763 flight & Holiday.

Regards.

Delivery of 767

The first re fitted 767 300 is due for delivery at the end of this month with the others slowly being phased in over the rest of the winter season. The chances are that you are going to be on one of the old aircraft configurations to be honest.

What charterer are you with? P and O, princess, ocean village? This is going to have a big impact as well as one some of them now allocate seating at check in so the first ones there are the ones that are going to get the best seats!!!!!!

Thanks for the replys guys, at least i know what to expect!

warwicks: The cruise is with Princess Cruises, we always arrive at the check in as early as we can so hopefully we can get some decent seats. Last year they chartered a TCX A330 and it was probably one of the worst flights i have had! The leg room was non existant and that is no exaggeration, on the return flight a fight nearly broke out between 2 gentlemen in their 60s as 1 of them wanted to recline but the guy behind would have been literally trapped in his seat!! To their credit the crew were fantastic!

The year before Princess chartered a VS A340 which was lovely!

Regards.

I think these are the 763s that have been arriving in Auckland to have the new interiors.

It is a bit unusual to put new IFE into existing airframes - some of the IFE suites and new interiors cost a fortune for planes which I suppose will be in service for only a few more years. (5 years?). Remembering Branson's comment that it was easier to get finance for a new fleet of planes rather than to install IFE into the planes he already had.

While Matty has probably already embarked on his cruise, I was also looking to find out if any of the 767-300's had been turned around yet.

I've a maint-engineer friend at Thomsons who is trying to find out if my flight to CUN next week is likely to be a refitted one. (Similar reasons to Matty I suppose....). The fleet started going on to ANZES in November, so if the whole lot is to be completed by May, it kind of follows that half of the 763's will be done by now? Or am I being naive??

I'll perhaps report back after my hols and let you know what the outcome is, and maybe even give my humble opinions of the upgrade.

Meanwhile, if anyone DOES know the answer now, do please let me know!!

Ta.

Isn't it a bit far going to NZ for the refit? I have heard that LH send their A340's off to Asia for re-work and so on but this is a hell of a long way to go for this work. Did they do any B or C checks whilst they were at it?
