One down on the beach

Ultralight down on the beach at French's Point I think they said - just caught the tail end of it. Looked like a Jabiru. All okay.

ABC report at post #4 says three occupants. Either bad reporting or a naughty pilot of the two seat RAAus plane. A different report with better pictures below.

You won't fit 3 in a Foxbat. I'd suggest that from the news chopper it looked like there were 3 people standing around hence the confusion.

Victoria Police officers will prepare a report for the Australian Transportation Safety Board.
Um - I think their interest factor will be zilch!

I reckon that they were rather fortunate that their aircraft didn't end up on its back..

Luckily for the pilot, by the time you have to put the nose wheel down in a Foxbat you are almost at walking speed with not much energy left to tip you over.

Parks Victoria might have something to say.

Does anyone know if the airstrip in Bullock Road is still operational?

If it's below the high water mark of the outside coastline it's not within Parks Victoria's jurisdiction. French Island lies within Victorian Waters.

Perhaps they'll declare it a historic ahipwreck?
