Sydney Airport Work Experience

Hi guys i am currently a year 10 student, this year we have the opportunity to go on a one week work experience. I am extremely interested in aviation and want to pursue a career in that field. My mum was actually a flight attendant for 15 years. I have contacted Qantas, Emirates, Thai, Etihad and Cathay even smaller airliners like HEX at Bankstown but i still have no luck. I still have around till about July till i start my work experience but i need to send in my application before April.
If anyone have had previous experience at work experience not in the too distant past please let me know hoe you got in. Any other help would also be greatly appreciated

Thanks

I would suggest that you get on the phone to any operator on the field. I assume you're thinking of BK or SY but if transport is OK try CN as well.
My son did work experience with a BK flying school a long time ago using just that method, get on the phone. It was a waste of time really, he's a lawyer now up for admission as a solicitor soon.

Raptor090, often the Career Advisors at High Schools have little or no contacts in relation to Aviation unfortunately, it's just too niche for them it seems!

kk35467, try contacting BasAir at Bankstown if you haven't already, they're a fairly good bunch and I'm sure would be able to help you out, they've done so for others in the past as well and a great way to get a bit of a leg up on what you need to do for your training!!

mustafagander, my deepest condolences... Could be worse though, the work experience might have actually encouraged him to become a Pilot!!

Unfortunately this kind of thing isn't possible. Besides, I think that it would probably be boring, you can't actually do anything except watch (and maybe put the occasional strip into a strip holder). Better to try and organise a one day visit, but they have stated they won't do it unless you're in a recruitment process.

Maybe it wasn’t a waste of time and he used that experience to realise that aviation was definitely not his calling !

If you have found any organisation that says “yes”, take it. There are many aspects to aviation, and as you have found, not many avenues for work experience.
