Drone conference

I've suggested to my Rotary club we hold a weekend conference for Drone owners

The idea would be to hold a series of information lectures on both how to use them the legalities and a market place where you could see what is available

We also thought we would offer owners a series of pylon races

As it would be a Rotary event we thought all proceeds should go to charities such as Angel flight or the RFDS etc

Prune members thoughts would be appreciated

Good idea wherever you are.
I saw on the box some drone racing in a news item, I believe there is an Oz association/ affiliated clubs that have State and Nat comps, and folk go on to Intl events.

If you find yr local 'racing chapter' I'm sure they would be happy to spread the word, do demos and get some PR as well

good luck

Just for the record Flying binghi, Not all Rotarians are Old foggies.

The idea behind it is to raise money for worthwhile charities as well as to raise awareness with amateur Drone flies that don't really have any idea of how much havoc they could cause.

And for the record the Old Foggies you describe probably funded your career by operating Aviation Businesses.

Even Dick Smith could see the worth of Rotary in his recent donation, but then Bill Gates who funds thru Rotary the elimination of Polio doesn't count I suppose!!!!!!!!!

A Rotary club in Tasmania recently held a similar event which was an enormous success. Rotarians are not all old fogies FB and do many great things in the world, including almost, so far, removing polio from the world, forever.
