Sigma & Korr sham contracts….

Does anyone know how Sigma aerospace & Korr people are getting away with sham "independent contractor" contracts? With the upcoming Qantaslink takeover of B717 heavy maintenance and the ongoing A320 Jetstar supply surely the degradation of work entitlements won't continue. Is the ALAEA doing anything about it?

I thought someone said no jobs would be lost with the 717 maintenance moving to Canberra, but Seek has been hammered with positions for months?

About 35 Cobham guys got the boot from Adelaide and Canberra.

I am not sure if made the move to the Sigma, sorry Qantaslink hangar.

I am also interested as to why the ALAEA has not been more active in the Canberra contractor situation.

The Eastern EBA, which covers Canberra, only allows contractors for short term peak work or to cover a fixed term absence.

Not a whole base staffed by connies.

The more you look at things, the more you'll realise the only reason for being an ALAEA member is if you are a QF LAME. There seems to be very little interest in helping anyone else. I know for a fact there are Sigma Qlink contractors that have been conies for 3 years +…… good to see the union looking after LAME's in australia, oh wait…….it not Qantas mainline being effected……

Well like most lames that are not employed by the q. The only reason being in it is the legal representation that is given when and if it goes pear shaped. Other than that it's a bit of a waste.
