New Avplan EFB Pro
Been using the one month free play of new AvPlan PRO new version 5 release (iPad version).
Favourite features so far:
- faster map display/zoom with even better on map weather radar
- Autocalc of route segment LSALTs and on map display of tolerance splays
- on map glide range 'ring' (dynamically adjusted for high terrain and wind)
Very impressed
Others thoughts?

I wonder if this thread will last as long as this one before it's closed.

I hope this thread lasts as long as the one for Ozrunways.
The amount of useful advice for users on that (Ozrunways) thread is great.
Having both Avplan and Ozrunways as healthy companies, in vigorous competition, is in every users interest.
I am an Ozrunways user.
Seems that Avplan has some very useful features.

Just recently paid for the OzRunways premium and then checked out the AvPlan trial, I'm really impressed.
My summary is that OzRunways is great for general / private aviators, AvPlan looks more commercial orientated.
Either way, both developers have done an exceptional job and I encourage all users to try both!
Love seeing aviation working together to provide pilots with better tools!
Thumbs up!

I tried out the v5 features today.
Seems a bit quicker and yet slightly less stable in some scenarios.
A few times with the vertical profile in view and calling up the flight plan pane it locked up and crashed. Not as bad as that screen auto fade. I had to swipe randomly at the screen trying to find the manual brightness control after it decided to leave my screen so dark I couldn't see anything.
Outside of that it was good.

just been having a fiddle now, the vertical profile behaves badly when you have a flight with 2 legs between the same two points. ie YBRM-YFTZ then YFTZ-YBRM. it plots the TOC for leg 2 back near the start of leg 1. That was only tested in plan mode not flight mode
it is a nice improvement though
