JeppView FD Version 2
FD V2.0 is now available on iTunes.
Just loading it up now.
Anyone used it in anger yet?
The list of "improvements" sound ok ...But so did the list for NIS.
Will report further tomorrow!

Haven't used it in anger. The night mode looks ok. The weather doesn't present very well. When I looked at the Sydney TAF today, the raw data had some words running into other words and the decoded data had some trend info in the remarks section instead of in the trend section.
The display of the Sydney aerodrome chart is much improved. In version 1 the resolution wasn't good enough and the text on the chart remained fuzzy even when zoomed in. In the new version you can zoom in on the chart and the text is clear.
Definitely an improvement overall. Steps in the right direction but a fair way to go yet.

I like it. No issue with Wx. I like that too. Seems to load & change charts faster than before. Like the selection bar for SIDS / STAR, etc. The flight planning bit I find less trouble than before, but I don't know why. I like the way the charts are set up by the flight plan a lot. I'm really impressed.

I've briefly used it in anger. Overall a significant improvement it seems, especially on the new iPad.
There's one disappointing thing, however, and it's the one thing I was really wishing for... The Enroute chart is still very blocky and lo-res, not very nice to read. I find myself using Jepp FD for all approaches/SID/STAR, and OzRunways for enroute reference... Or I just pull out the paper Jepp enroute chart and refer to that (crazy I know, paper).

Funny, a criticism I would have of Ozrunways over Jepp FD is that I think OXrunways is more clunky to load maps than Jepp FD. But I tend not to use Jepp FD enroute. My favorite enroute is the full version of Flite Deck on a Motion CL900 tablet. But I prefer charts on the iPad and use Ozrunways WAC's when the passengers ask "where are we?" and x miles from the next IFR reporting point results in puzzled looks.
At the moment, I can have the Motion CL900, Garmin 496, iPad plus the aircraft's IFR GPS all going. I think I need some convergence of technology.

Granted, the enroute charts load very quickly and smoothly on FD (probably because they're not simply large images)... It's just they make absolutely no use of the iPad display capabilities... And IMO don't display enough info.
Probably valid criticism, although being IFR charts, what else is there?
The full version of Flite Deck seems to be being left behind. I think soon it will be iPad FD only. In which case, I would be guessing we can look forward to HSI type displays being added.

ZappBrannigan, what more info do you want from the enroute chart? My only complaint with the chart is that it doesn't display enroute radio frequencies. Everything else is there that I need.

You're both right, and this is exactly what I was thinking of when I wrote that. I was in unfamiliar QLD airspace a few days ago, and went to JeppFD for the next area freq... And had to switch over to OzRunways to get it. Apart from that all the required info is there.
Well, they do still give you the paper ERCs and TACs, even with electronic subscriptions...
The area frequencies are there. Problem is that you have zoom the scale to about 6nm to see them (numbers aligned with the green boundary line). The detail on the map gets better the more you zoom in.

AerocatS2A Could you please explain in details how to display the enroute frequencies if possible take a screen shot to show how it looks I tried many times zoom in but can't display it
This works with JeppFD, latest version, Australian data base. Go to the enroute view and zoom in so that with the range rings selected the biggest ring is 8NM. There are green lines marking frequency boundaries and the frequencies are displayed immediately adjacent to the lines. If that doesn't work for you possibly it's not available with different databases.

Zoom in until you can see the FIR boundary(Green lines), the press and hold on the green boundary for a few seconds and release. Press on the desired area you want (it should make that area pink) and display the info for that FIR area. There is also an additional Communication tab for frequencies. As far as I'm aware, this is the only way to get the frequencies. I don't think you can have them displayed on the map.

This is north of Sydney. The frequency is displayed immediately adjacent the FIR name. I don't use the enroute charts on the PC program so don't know if you can display the frequencies on it.
