CASA Self Service Portal

Looks like it has died again, been down for the last few or more hours, I suppose nobody cares. Then again, what a stupid statement, of course nobody cares, it is just their window to the world.

They will care....its an automated service to do things they would have to pay someone to do, whilst collecting the same amount from you for the 'service' that you are tending to yourself..

make sense?

It'll be back up as soon as someone adds up THEIR losses.

There's actually a human who responds to emails for tech support. I had not used the system for about 2 years and wanted to change my correspondence address with CASA but had forgotten my password. But to request your password automatically requires you to answer a 'security question' which was 'name of your significant other'. Since I couldn't remember who my significant other was 2 years ago, I emailed them thinking I'd never get a reply. But lo and behold, they replied after 2 days (not bad for CASA).

As for the security question, couldn't they think of something that's easier to remember than 'name of significant other' such as 'rego of aircraft of your first solo?' .. that's much easier to remember!!

Not a great system but better than a kick in the head.

The biggest issue with CASA Self Service is the bevy of stupid password rules. Dammit, if I want it to be something easy to remember or if I don't want to have to change it every year (and no, you can't use the previous year's password) then let me just click a box to accept responsibility for my own security. No way will anyone ever guess my standard (and very very easy to remember) password.
