Light aircraft prang at Wilpena Pound

A light aircraft (believed to be a C182 owned by Wilpena resort) has gone off the end of a strip in that area & pranged. Three on board, apparently all got out relatively unscathed.

VH-CIK

It was a Warrior from YMMB.

The Wilpena boys know better than to run off the end of their own strip.

I stand corrected then. I thought it would be odd for one of the Wilpena pilots to be involved!

Im not there, but I hear the nose gear, prop and wings are all damaged. It ran off the end of the runway into the scrub.

Heard that it was a pvt pilot who thought they'd just drop in unannounced (and unapproved)

How goes it DF? Long time no speak!

'Twas a pilot who broadcast she was landing at Rawnsley Park (1000m strip) but was actually at Wilpena's. (About 600m)

Anyone care to start another thread about the quality of training?

What happened to the good old GPS?

Or, good old fashioned map reading. I know that area, and there is a BIG land mark, One strip to the north (wilpena) and one to the south (rawnsley)

It may be lack of experiance.. lets not get too harsh here. Wilpena or Rawnsly aside.. touching down 2/3rds the way down a 600m strip...? you'd think you'd maybe power up and go around? ?

Anyway atleast the only thing hurt were ego's

I'll bet there were skid marks.....not necessarily on the end of the runway

It's not sexist if it was a woman... It's fact

Not saying women pilots are better than men. I've seen some morons getting around ... both men and women, but mostly women! haha kidding
