Just curious as to why Qantas went with the GE engine over the roller offering. Couldnt find any details as to what their differences were in performance, cost, efficiency, life cycle cost etc which influenced QF's decision.
Now for the hard bit, these engines are still paper engines, none have much if any air time, so all the manufacturers data are predictions. How accurate are they likely to be. Could the winning engine on paper prove to be inferior to its competitor once several years of operations has been achieved.
How does an airline go about selecting an engine?
