Three injured in helicopter crash
October 16, 2006
THREE men on a bushfire mapping flight have been injured when their helicopter made an emergency landing in a southern New South Wales national park.

The chopper landed so heavily it sheared off both its rotors, a police spokesman said.

The trio aboard the helicopter were seeking out bushfire hotspots in Kosciuszko National Park today when a mechanical problem forced them to land in the Toolong Range, near Tooma Dam, about 4.30pm (AEST).

One man suffered minor head injuries and another slight back injuries.

All three, believed to be working for the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, were taken to Corryong Hospital.
