Atp /pic upgrade on the b1900 simulator

Hello, I needed to do my FAA ATP on the B1900 simulator facility at AIMS community college Geeley, Colorado. Because i have an FAA SIC type rating on the B1900 and almost 2500hrs on type, i only required the ATP. On the website of the facility, the requirements for the FAA ATP includes having an FAA commercial multi instrument, completed ATP CTP,knowledge test and a B1900 type rating. But they defined at type rating as a PIC and not SIC. I decided to contact the Denver FSDO which oversights the facility for the defination of a type rating as it relates the training i intended to do at the sim facility. The FSDO responded to my inquiry saying that an SIC type rating is a type rating according to FAR 61.55 and 61.51. And therefore meets the the requirement for the ATP training that i sought . I do not what step to take next as this contradicted what the TCE of the sim facility put out as a requirement. I need some advice on this.

I don't really understand your questions.
I'll assume that you have already completed the required ground school ATP-CPT and passed the knowledge test. So, if you're seeking a B1900 PIC type rating, you can easily include the upgrade to ATP certificate in the same checkride, it's essentially the same flight test, and it looks like Aims says that can be combined for no additional cost. If you simply need the ATP checkride, it would probably be way cheaper to go to any flight school with a basic multi- trainer (Baron, Seminole, etc.), fly few hours of prep practice, and take the checkride.
Note that, even though you may have experience in a 1900, strictly, the FAA SIC type rating doesn't require very much training compared to the PIC type rating. Also, whatever criteria Aims college requires may have little or nothing to do with the FAR's.

You can't just take a checkride for a type rating in a sim. You must complete an approved 142 program that includes classroom and simulator instruction. Briefly looking at the Aims website they only talk about their 141 school which involves flight training in aircraft. They may only use the 1900 sim as an introduction to turbine aircraft and a MEL sim. So they may be authorized to issue PIC types in their sim.

Thanx 340driver, yes i have my CTP and knowledge test done. Just wanted to get my ATP training and checkride done at AIMS. They do have a B1900 sim approved program under part 142. Their requirement for the ATP training and checkride includes having a B1900 type rating. They say it has to be PIC type. But when i contacted the Denver FSDO, they said that an SIC is a type rating and qualifies to do the ATP training and check.

Thanx Markerinbound. AIMS does have an FAA approved 142 program using the B1900. The link is https://www.aims.edu/ced/be1900/ATP.phc The eligibility for the B1900 ATP program under part 142 is the issue. While the school says you need to have a PIC rating, they FSDO office oversighting says an SIC rating is acceptable for the training and checkride

Can't open the AIMs web page but what you say is interesting. A 142 school can not issue a certificate using a sim that represents an aircraft requiring a type rating without also issuing that type rating. So you could take your private checkride in a B-787 sim and have a private certificate with a B-787 type. Because a type rating checkride is always done to ATP standards, the type rating will upgrade to the commercial level if you take your commercial ride in a CE-310. And when you take your ATP ride it becomes an ATP level type because you showed you could fly a B-787 to ATP standards when you passed your private checkride. Sounds like they are trying to get around issuing the type by requiring you to already hold the type to complete the ATP ride. The SIC type wouldn't work because you have to be PIC of the aircraft (sim) during the ride and a SIC type doesn't let you do that. But it seem they have a very limited market to issue ATPs to holders of BE-1900 type ratings. Odd.
