UA 737-900 off Runway at IAH

"A retired FA passenger on the flight was interviewed on a Las Vegas TV report a few minutes ago and reports something different. She says it was a very hard landing and used the term "Captain Kangaroo" to describe the plane bouncing after the landing."

From snopes.com: Humorous Inflight Announcements :

Another flight Attendant's comment on a less than perfect landing: "We ask you to please remain seated as Captain Kangaroo bounces us to the terminal."
What is the cable hanging from the nose in the Twitter photo? Looks like external power with nothing attached.

Plane slides off runway at Bush Airport - Houston Chronicle

[...] the United aircraft touched down without incident, but as it attempted to turn off the runway onto an adjacent taxiway, it turned too wide and some of the plane's wheels left the tarmac and got stuck in the grass along the runway.

No injuries were reported.

Probably an external power cable that is lying in a ditch running to a tug or power cart that is just outside of the photo.

It was United 1545, FO reported that 'we're off the ramp', tower asks her if she meant off the taxiway, she confirms. Tower says he will send a tug.

Sounds to me like they made the NN highspeed since the initial taxi clearance on rollout was 'NA, NK, NB to the ramp'.

Captain says he had 'very little braking authority' on the high speed turnoff for runway 8R. 174 souls, no reported injuries, 12,000 lbs. fuel.

Weather at the time:

Thanks, I think you are right.

To be fair to US airlines, most make passenger announcements when on final approach to the effect that they will be landing momentarily.
