US Radio Telephony Licence

Desperate to find out how to obtain a US radio telephony licence as I have a job offer and the company needs one. As I am not currently in the US it is making it even harder to find Information.

I got mine in '73....is that stupid requirement still in effect? It must be a holdover from the days of radio operators, when they carried boxes of crystals. Do they still require personalized buggy-whips? Sam
