As told before, cabin supervicer's and instructor's from Norwegian are, as we speak, in Thai Training Center in BKK, and they are not there for holiday.
Seems like the A340 will start from scretch with thai cabin staff, on thai-contract.

A sad story - the norwegians there are digging for their own unemployment - on long term.

Q1 2014

The four 787 that NLH will get in 2014, will all come in Q1. In addition, there will be three aircraft this year (to which they have recruited for two already).

I just wonder when they will recruit for the five aircraft coming from November 2013 until March 2014? They only have a few dates for interviews planned in July and August as it seems now.

Does someone have inside information?

Hello all.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but has anybody any info re the calibre of applicants for this new Dreamliner operation.

I recently applied via Rishworth. I have maybe 8500 hrs now of which 4500 hrs are on the B737. I am also NG qualified but have no wide bodied or long haul experience!

So far I have not heard a thing. It seems my present experience meets only the basic requirements for the job??

Does anybody here have any inside info?

From what I have read above they appear to have already recruited the majority of flight deck??

I have also been told that they have had no problem recruiting from Emirates 777 drivers.

Many thanks.

Any idea/guesses on what the eventual 787 fleet will number? I realise they will own and lease 787s - could this be a 20-30 aircraft fleet eventually?

Red face

The Emirates 777 news came from a reliable source in Norwegian (pilot)
Quite a few people in Emirates are from OZ and NZ. The pull of the desert is wearing off for many. Quite a few happier to be closer to home etc.

They are not exactly beating a path to my door and I'm not exactly short on experience either. They must be getting people from somewhere as they have quite a few of these Dreamliners arriving.

Just thought I'd ask the question.

Cheers.

The condition are appalling and below truck driver standard since Norwegian requires all agencies to inform each pilot's country tax authority of their income. They had such an overwhelming number of applicants ( few retired KLM, Loco FO and Cpts) that Virgin Atlantic pilot will fly the first two aircraft and " mentor" the B737 Loco guys they were able to source. There is a ex EK TRE in management ,based in Norway, not in BKK , with a "special" deal and that is it. And lot of ladyboys on board...enjoy.

After filling in my application I got a email from Rishworth that I didn't meet the minimum requirements.
2500 hrs Boeing C17 PIC, JAA license and EU passport.

The reason was that I didn't have a TR on one of the mentioned types like 737, 747 etc.
And they had enough applicants to not make exceptions

Yeah.. they have plenty of "qualified" applicants as CRC (tow year PIC B737 Loco Captains) and 500 B737 Loco FO with no what so ever experience on long haul. Thus the deal with Virgin Atlantic to have their TRI/E train on the plane before VA gets it.The type rating on B737/757,,, is just required to take the short TR course.. Don't forget that if you are not B777 rated you have to sign a bond for 30/45000 USD..

Does anyone really know if they have enough qualified pilots to fly their 3 a/c coming this year, and 4 a/c coming during the first three months of next year (total 7 a/c within 9 months from today)?

Should be a fast upgrade for them joining now?!

Can anyone explain how the Virgin Atlantic pilot joint venture will work with Norwegian longhaul? Will VA pilots be instructing Norwegian 787 pilots or providing longhaul guidance? So, when VA gets its first 787s in 2014, its pilots will train on Norwegian 787s first?

I have read a few news clipping but it is still a bit confusing... Appreciate any clarification.

Cheers

OK what I don't understand if they are so hard pressed for drivers why are they playing hard to get. I applied with 8500tt/ 6000+heavy/3000+ heavy PIC all on boeings, EU passport 2 scandinavian languages and EASA license. The reply I got was: not interested as you do not meet min. requirements. Go figure...

So my questions is who is getting this job. A quick take on google reveals some ex. Korean and EVA drivers that started of at MyFly and AirFinland according to their LinkedIn profiles.

I'm wondering if the girl at Rishworse knows what she is doing.
