Problem is, what if they have enough people already? You do your TR, pay lot of money for it. But they say "you didnt meet the standard", even those you did more then good enough. It is sad how desperat people are to get a job in aviation. We cant blame no one but our self for where this industry is heading!

I agree. Doing things in this reverse order is very good for the TRTO but bad for all pilots.
What are people going to do with just the TR and no time on type?
See if it can get you laid at your local flying club can't think of many other possibilities..
Edited to say, this is in answer to the Q on the previous post/previous page. . . rather than a general life statement vis a vis aviation. . . . . although it could be equally applied there too I guess.

Sad but true. Anyway..back focusing on Air Baltic..if you do your type with them with the intention to do the LT as well...no matter if them leave you at home without LT. You can always do it with another organization. Your wallet don't cares whether you're paying air baltic or others..
At the moment I really don't know if their "prices" for the type are convenient...but at the moment seems to be one of the few possibility to make the "pilot wheel of fortune" spin for who has just got his CPL. (talking about remaining in EU)
I was "only" a contract Capt there, but I seem to remember TR was quite cheap, but salary during LT phase was fairly cr@p ( & "enjoying" life in RIX is not SO cheap ) so you had to budget a "survival fund" to cover your "Summer in Paradise" Oh Yes .
Good experience, fantastic route variety , endless CRM-education opportunities for FO's, practice most Boeing non-normals for your next PC well, these are "ageing Classics",
I am half joking, but with decent terms & some long-term commitment on their part I would give up my EFB & go back in a heartbeat

Hi.. guys, i would like to know if anyone has done TR + line training from air baltic? Do they give you any job preference should you do it? Thanks in advance..
There is a reason why AB are now desperate to sell their TR programs, from people in the know, it is very uncertain how long Air Baltic might survive!
Just a quick look at their mixed fleet, it does not take a genius to figure out that probably are not operating in the most economical way, and from people in the know, they could go under before you even get time to complete your TR, never mind any line training!
I would be very careful before I parted with any money to Air Baltic, at least DO NOT PART WITH MONEY IN ADVANCE!
Hi truckflyer
I was about to pay a deposit of half the course fee Monday 15th till I seen your post. What's your honest view with the company? Pls I need more honest opinions before I she'll out cash

Well I know few pilots who used to work there, they are in serious financial trouble. It seems these TR to fly programs, is a way for them to get cheap labour, and somebody to pay for their simulators / training department. They have an extremely uneconomical mixed fleet, which in theory is very expensive to maintain, crew training, maintainance of aircraft etc.
Of course you might be lucky, you might be able to get a "job", where they pay you close to peanuts, and get your 500 hours, but you will NOT stay there any longer than this, because they need new recruits, to help them pay their bills!
The pilots I know are from the area, and used to work for them in the past, and most of them does not see the company lasting very long, in addition your TR will be one a fairly useless 737 Classic.
There are to many ifs and buts, of course if you don't mind spending money on a TR than fine, however don't think you have more chance to get a job after if you have 40 hours in a simulator and a TR on your licence!
I would think long and hard before spending the money on this!
I know, because a friend asked me if I could get some info because I knew a few pilots that used to work there. Of course they could last 6 months, 12 months, 24 months or 1 month, nobody can really know.
But they do not have a very competitive operations model, thats clear for most to see, and for me the TRTO program seems like a last minute desperate attempt to get some cash and cheap labour!
Air Baltic have moore Type Rating offer than bloody DFS...Spring Offer now..Autum offer...Winter Offer...Be a January Sales offer next after XMAS..
Tight gits pay for FO like other Airlines do!!
These turds keep feeding the monstor...Cabin crew and ground staff will pay next...WHY WHY Ive heard the airline is rubbish and on its knees with Chuck Yaegar Captains with bravado attitude.. ..BIG RISK!! Theres a Casino in Essex and roulete is 50/50..better odds I think
Why get a CEO what bankrupt another airline to run your airline???? Good decision making hahaha...I crashed a plane can I have a job???? YES if you pay though...
Actually maybe CEO form Hungary paid for his job as CEO at A.Baltic???
