Chicago

Hi Folks
Mrs OF and youngest son (16) are going to Chicago for 2 days, one night in August.
They asked me where to go for a steak dinner.
Its at least 10 years since I was there and the names I came up with just don't seem to be there any more.
They are not looking for Ruth Chris prices and table clothes, just great steak and a baked potato at a good price.
Near the Westin on Michigan Ave might be an advantage.
I'm sure that you current aviators can come up with the goods....
cheers

For a classic steakhouse experience, there's Gibson's or Joe's. The latter also has great seafood. For the former I recommend saving room for a slice of chocolate cake (the "slice" is humongous).

For the best people-watching I would do Mastro's.

For the most interesting "foodie" style gourmet touches I would do David Burke's Primehouse.

Another interesting choice would be Zed451 which follows the "brazilian steakhouse" business model where you pay a flat rate per person and there is a buffet of appetizers and salads, and then servers come around with unlimited portions of many different cuts of meats and a few different sides. The difference is that all the food is more what you would find in an american steakhouse vs a brazilian steakhouse and its a little higher end than the average brazilian steakhouse.

There is also Lawry's for prime rib where they come around in carts and slice your piece right off a giant piece of cow but prime rib is not my favorite so I haven't been there in a decade and I couldn't say personally whether they've kept the place up.
