New York steak house

Hi PPruners,

I am in New York, Tribeca, in a couple of weeks and I hear there are some great steak houses here and although I've trawled the guides I'm finding the options limitless, so, I'm open to suggestions on where to eat from those that have over nighted or layed over here that are in the know. I'm after a steak house that is fairly central to Tribeca, good atmosphere and most importantly does great steak!

Thanks for any hints or tips.

MS

Hope I'm not too late...

head over to Brooklyn to Peter Luger - check it out online.

The best. Nationally reviewed. Old school, great Martini's ( the steakhouse "starter") and a quick cab ride from Tribeca.

Expat-Brit in USA and steakhouse afficianado - this is the one.

Try Smith and Wollensky's (sp?) All the NYC steakhouse trimmings and although not easy on the Wallet, it was worth every dollar!

Thread drift but my best "New York Strip Steak" was served in Buenos Aires, They call it the "bife de chorizo". Probably because it was not cut from a hormone/steroid cow that lived it's short life in a cattleground standing in the feces of thousands of other cattle.

NY guzzles.....

.........Peter Luger is so well known, that booking well in advance is advised.

If you are rostered on a night-stop or other short layover, might be an idea to call a week or two ahead.

Well worth the effort though........
