Newcastle, EGNT

Will visit EGNL new week. Any suggestion on where to drink their famous Ale? I want to taste REAL British style pub. Thanks in advance. Safe flight,

If you want a proper pub with proper beer I can make three suggestions:

The Bridge;
The Bodega;
Crown Posada.

'The Bridge' is on the Newcastle side of the High Level Bridge (over the Tyne) and is about a 5 minute walk from the Central Station (Rail). 'The Bodega' is a similar distance the opp direction at the bottom of Westgate Road. The Crown Posada is on the corner - just down Dean St before you get to the famous Quayside area (you can Google them all).

If you're arriving at EGNT and don't want to muck about with Taxis, jump on the Metro (£2.30) and you're in the centre of Newcastle in about 15 mins (the Metro stops at the Central Station too).

Enjoy The Toon!!

Shame the Tuxedo Princess isn't there anymore.

I'm sure it would have been at the top of your list PD.

LSM,

It was great in its heyday but god it went downhill and I was pleased to see it depart in the end.

Not much of a fan of the Quayside generally but I walked past the Bigg Market last week and thought WTF!!. I'm too old for this sort of stuff - give me a working mens club and a bottle of Dog and I'll be as happy as a pig in wotsit!

Jump on a train at the central station towards Hexham. Second stop is Wylam, get off there and next to the station is The Boathouse. Small traditional pub with 15 handpulls for real ale, about 10 real ciders and good food.

If you Google The Boathouse Wylam you should get their website. I have no connection to the pub other than I use it when I am in the area.

Thank you all for your suggestion. We ended up walking to the place called The Skiff near the hotel we stayed. Next time, I will hop on the train and see more places. Till then, safe flight, folks.

How about this place? Real beer, pleasant staff and proper (live) music (not the boom-da-da-boom etc.). Nice clientele as well.
