ATC, Visiting Frankfurt

Hello,

I am visiting Frankfurt Control centre in November. I am a controller from Canada.

My Question, are there any Lufthansa people on this forum who might help me out in getting a tour of Lufthansa operations? I work thousands of Lufthansa flights every year, and since I am going to be "in town" I would like to visit the operations side of your airline.

I am also a pilot, so if anyone has any recommendations on things to do and see in Germany within a two hour distance of Frankfurt it would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

This isn't related to aviation, but I recommend catching the train to Cologne. It is a really beautiful city with very friendly people. The train journey from Frankfurt airport to Cologne centre is only an hour on the ICE.

Lufthansa can be touchy when it comes to visiting their premises in Frankfurt. I once was invited to a tour through Lufthansa Technik's maintenance hagar, but they wouldn't let us see the operations centre, although we were accompanied by a senior captain and fleet manager. Maybe the best course would be to send them an e-mail, explain your background, and just ask if they were offering any tours.

Within the Frankfurt CTR there is a smaller aerodrome, Egelsbach (EDFE), which is worth a visit. They have an excellent restaurant. Another idea would be a a bus tour over Frankfurt's apron. You can buy tickets in the terminal.

Interesting, I am only in the country from October 30th-November 3rd. Aside from the Centre tour I plan on seeing some of the country as well!

I have visited Continentals Ops three years ago, as a pilot and plane geek I thought it would be interesting considering the intimate work I do with their flights dayin and day out.

As having visited the Control Tower; not the control center, i was meet by great people. If you have the chance, or might know someone, than you should perhaps consider checking it out.
But Frankfurt city is pretty nice as well, even though its a bank core.

Have fun,

E
