The best place is the old town. There are plenty of bars but one of the best is Zum Schluessel on Bolkerstrasse. They brew Altbier, the local beer of choice. It is a big place with lots of separate rooms.

the whole old downtown is called "the longest bar in the world" be there- and you will know why!
