I have been doing some night stays in Accra recently and have not figured out where everybody is. I am going to continue to stay overnight in Accra and would like to know of good places to stay and go out get a beer and have dinner. What is popular? What do you suggest?

The only place I know in Accra - is the Golden Tulip hotel next to the airport terminal. Has good restaurant and bar downstairs. There is a little restaurant also next to the hotel... to the left side if you face the building from street.

I lived in Accra for several years (1998 - 2002) and visited for a few days recently. Certainly the Golden Tulip is a good choice (used to be my 'local') and the bar, pool area and restraurant have some character.

The little restaurant next to the Tulip - in the garage forecourt - has gone (shame - it was rather nice).

In my day Labardi Beach was worth a visit (particulalrly for the jazz night) and the relatively new large hotel just along from the Labardi beach, but I can't remember its name at the moment, had OK restaurants and pretty good service.

For food get into Osu (Irish pub, good chinese and a number of other restaurants).

Enjoy Accra - not a bad place at all.

Rhapsody is a cool bar, located in the Accra mall. The bar would not be out of place in London or Newyork..
