2 nights in Phuket

Hey there,

Any thoughts of things to do while in Phuket? 3 days 2 nights on a weekend.

Places of interest and good food would be helpful.

Cheers in advance,

oz

It will depend on where you are staying but the Patong beach area used to have a lot of good food opportunities as well as a few knocking shops!

Para,

From what i understand it's about right smack centre of patong beach or strip.

Any good restaurants spring to mind?

And as for knocking....lets see how strong the beer chang's are.

G'Day

The two local beers are Singha and Klosters, I recommend Klosters, others will disagree. Can't be specific about eating places as I haven't been there post Tsunami but there used to be a lot of good ones. Watch out for the lobsters, some are much too big, (and tough), others are old. A ridge of light colured, milky, tendon, muscle, fat or what ever behind the head is the give-away, the older the lobster the darker it gets!

Have fun.

As a Phuket regular i can say that recently a new shopping centre has opened in Patong, " Johncelylon " top end of Bangla road across from the Muai Thai boxing stadium, great selection of Western food or Thai. many great coffee shops and heaps to see and do.

Try Bangla road at night and the numerous beer bars, try : D ingo's its an Aussie bar and owned by a mate " Trent "

Good company great staff and a real eye opener....

parabellum,

Klosters is certainly not local. Singha and the far better Chang are.

Rotaryman,

Think you mean Jungceylon.

A very good local restaurant in Patong is 'The Bakery' next to the Patong Beach hotel, cheap and very good.

My favourite hotel in Patong is the Amari Coral Beach.

A trip to Phang Nga bay is a must, the scenery is outstanding.

By 'local' I meant Thai, isn't Klosters Thai? After several years on Singha I changed and found I preferred the Klosters. (Don't think I read the label!).

I thought Klosters was German, although (like many 'foreign' beers) brewed locally under license.

Thanks

Heyguys,

Thanks for the info, might give Rotarymans' mates bar a try. As for lobster, the trip is looking far better now

Well if anyone else is going to be down there next weekend, send us a PM and we might arrange to paint the town red.

Enjoy!
